What Is Digital Mammography?
Lake District Hospital is proud to provide our patients with American College of Radiology (ACR) accredited digital mammography for your annual screening and diagnostic exams. The combination of x-ray technology and computer manipulation provide use with high quality diagnostic images. The use of Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) in conjunction with our imaging will ensure you’re getting a quality exam with accurate results in a timely fashion.
Screening Mammogram
A screening mammogram is an annual test used to evaluate breast tissue for any abnormalities. It is a tool used to aid in the early detection of breast cancer.
What To Expect
A diagnostic mammogram is a study which goes beyond that of a screening. It is a tool to detect and diagnosis any physical change to the breast or abnormal screening results. Diagnostic mammograms could be performed under digital mammography, ultrasound, or MRI and could result in a biopsy of the site if absolutely necessary.
Once your study has been performed and completed the images will be read by our radiologist and your results will be provided to your ordering physician shortly.
