What Is Digital Radiography & Fluoroscopy?
The imaging department at Lake District Hospital is proud to announce our smooth transition into the digital world of radiography. Our new digital system provides you, the patient, with remarkable images in a shorter amount of time while only delivering half the radiation dose. X-rays are a painless examination with the exception of some positions which may be uncomfortable momentarily.
What to Expect?
Expect to be greeted by one of our friendly imaging department staff members prior to your examination. We will go over any sort of history pertinent to your examination as well as invite you to ask question in regards to the exam.
The technologist will perform the exam, which typically ranges from 10-15 minutes for outpatient x-rays. When performing fluoroscopy procedures those exams can range from 1Siminutes to two hours depending upon the study ordered. Some fluoroscopy procedures will have a preparation associated with them either the morning of and/or up to the night before. These preparations will be discussed prior to visiting the hospital.
After the exam is completed you can leave the imaging department and continue your normal routine unless otherwise discussed by your doctor or the technologist. The results of the procedure will be read by a radiologist and will be provided to your ordering physician in a timely fashion.
